Days 16 & 17 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

“Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity that you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach – how you look at things . . . Whatsoever you do, if you do it joyfully, if you do it lovingly, if your act of doing is not purely economical, then it is creative.” ~ Osho

Day 16 ~ Created artwork for Quotable Tuesday.

Day 17 ~ Wrote 13 handwritten pages including morning pages, scenes for WIP and work with “The Writer’s Portable Mentor.”  Also designed new business cards:

Days 14 & 15 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” ~ MaYA ANGELOU

Day 14 ~ I didn’t set time aside today for a specific creative activity. Nursing a cold. Raining Sunday. Created some compassion for myself to just rest. Went to the movies with my daughter. Taught a lovely, restorative Yin class. Feeling better today. Taking care of myself pays off.

Day 15 ~ Went to the cafe to write: morning pages, writing practice and began working (once again) with this awesome book by Priscilla Long:

“To be creative means to be in love with life.”  Osho

I am finding this to be so true. I may not be cranking out pages and pages of scenes for my novel or covering canvas after canvas with paint but I am mining the nooks and crannies my days for those small creative moments.

Day 11 ~ I went to the bookstore to write. Did 3 morning pages, some writing practice.

Day 12 ~ I was in bed after midnignt and realized I hadn’t done anything specifically “creative” that day. But I did clean the house and creating order from chaos always fills me with joy.

Day 13 ~ I  wrote 10 sentences based on the image above:

Stars stand out in a sky spilled with purple and pink, orange and yellow.

Heaven bleeding into green earth.

Earth bleeding into water.

Her four legs standing firmly in the pool of blue.

Poised between water, earth and the sky.

Perfectly balanced.

Unafraid to claim her space in the world, in all three worlds.

Head bowed in reverence for the beauty that surrounds her,

for the beauty within her and that radiates throughout her days.

Honored to trust her place beneath the stars.

Honored to Be.

Day 10 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

Today’s creativity took the shape of trying a new recipe.

And oh my gosh…it was dee-lish-us!

I love trying new recipes though I hate following recipes. Usually I just wing it. This one is pretty easy though so I’ll be able to wing it soon. The key is the fresh herbs.

I think the phrase “bursting with flavor” was born from this recipe. So easy, fresh and light—perfect for summer.

Try it. Let me know what you think.

Days 4-9 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

Though I skipped posting here for several days, surpRisingly, I only missed one day of my challenge.

We had a house full of family in for my youngest daughter’s graduation from high school over the weekend. There was the prep of getting the house and food ready. Then there was the actual graduation ceremony at 10 AM Saturday, followed by a family dinner, followed by being a chaperone at the Senior All Night Party from 9 PM to 5 AM Sunday.

Quite the jam-packed couple of days. But I still managed to show up in even the smallest of ways to my creativity challenge.

Day 4- I created time in a crazy day to go to a (much needed) yoga class. Best decision I made.

Day 5- Wrote 10 sentences for another challenge.

Day 6- Wrote another 10 sentences for the challenge.

Day 7- After being awake for 24 hours, I barely functioned Sunday. I did manage to create a small bit of order from the chaos of the weekend in our home.

Day 8- Created 3 yoga flows on the fly as I taught 3 classes Monday.

Day 9- Created some much needed order in my office that had been buried under piles of papers for months. Culled through the stacks, recycling 2 waste baskets full of papers. Organized files for current projects as well as separate college/billing files for both daughters who will be at college in August. I feel I can breathe again in here.

I also created artwork for Quotable Tuesday.

And I created this post.

And artwork to go with it.

On to day 10!

Day 3 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

Such a long day.

It was physically and emotionally draining. But, here I am. Honoring this pact I made with myself. Honoring my creative spirit. Honoring my Self.

Tonight I played with creating a zentagle. Play is the key word. It wasn’t for anything other than showing up to see what happens. That attitude would help so much in my writing. Just show up and see what happens.

Day 2 of 30-Day Creativity Challenge

Today was a 12-hour day at college orientation for my youngest daughter after a meager three hours of sleep.

But, a challenge is a challenge. So, I picked up my phone and found something to photograph, played with it in Photoshop, found a quote that resonated with me as well as the image and…voila!

Day 2
